OUTBREAK Nears release
Spring 2007
Quentin Tarantino Zombie Film
The word is out! Tarantino has a new zombie movie due out next
year. Tom Savini will play a part.
Read more here.
Damn, I just love Tarantino movies. He has such a great touch
to everything he does. This movie is a package deal of sorts with the
2nd being a slasher flick. It looks like zombies are popular
again.
DIARY of the DEAD
George
A. Romero will write and direct George Romero's Diary of the
Dead, which his company Romero-Grunwald Productions will produce
with Artfire Films.
The storyline revolves around a group of film students who encounter
real zombies when making a horror movie in the woods.
Voltage Pictures has picked up worldwide sales rights to the pic,
which Artfire is fully financing. Production is slated to begin
October 11 in Toronto.
It's Blair Witch Zombies! The entire movie is filmed with a hand-held
camera and the story begins at the beginning of the zombie plague.
I've read that people are concerned this is outside Romero's
"Dead universe" simply because of the timeframe in the movie (present
day). This is not necessarily true. "DAWN of the DEAD" was
filmed in 1978 but that doesn't mean it takes place 10 years after
"Night" quite the contrary... It is mentioned early in the film that
it has been three weeks since the phenomenon began.
When dealing with sequels, you must ignore the time between movies in
most cases. Unless he changes the rules of the game, you know.... slow
zombies, bites and dying for any reason causes transformation etc....
you can assume it is indeed part of the same universe. You're not
supposed to pretend this new movie is 1968 as much as you are to
assume the old move is present day.
It sounds like GAR is returning to his roots. I like the
concept.

Filming begins October 11th 2006 in Toronto.

| DAY
of the DEAD 2007 |
produced by Danny Dimbort, one of the producers of The Wicker Man and
The Black Dahlia.
At first glance you would think that this movie is a sequel to 2004's
remake of DAWN of the DEAD. You'd be wrong. Yes, it stars Ving Rhames
and it is about zombies but it isn't a part of that dead world.
This movie is a remake of George Romero's "DAY of the DEAD" but not
really.... From what I've read the plague is not worldwide. It is a
local phenomenon. There's even a vegetarian zombie.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't this seem to be the exact wrong
thing to do with this title? I mean, I actually liked the remake
of "DAWN". No, it was not in my opinion as good and the original, but
it was an entertaining and profitable movie. To make this movie
outside of it seems... illogical.
I am sure it has nothing to do with 2004's "DAWN" because those rights
belong to another production company. But to search out Ving Rhames to
star in this movie though not connected to "DAWN 2004" seems a tad....
deceptive.
To me this doesn't hold much promise, but I'll reserve judgment until
I see it... if I see it.

NIGHT of the LIVING DEAD 3D
Official site |
Plot Outline: Both an homage to and a re-imagining
of the original 1968 film, this update follows a group of survivors
trapped in a farmhouse battling a siege of undead zombies....in 3D
Sid Haig stars in this remake. I don't get the 3D but what the hell...
I watched the trailer and it actually looks okay. What worries me is
the amount of time this movie has been on hold. There must be
some major issues to deal with before it can be released. |

REIGN of the DEAD: OUTBREAK |
Speaking of postponements.... This book was scheduled for release in
2006. Well, it's not going to make a 2006 release but it will be out
for 2007.
Everyone that is interested pretty much knows what this one is about.
How 'bout if I tell you what it's not about?
It's not about fast moving zombies (though some of them can get around
pretty well since they are fresh kills). It's not about thinking
zombies. I'm old school with my walking dead. ...maybe even more so
than the master himself. (well, maybe not). I believe zombies should be
almost mindless, lumbering, killing machines.
It's not about how the situation would be dealt with more efficiently
if the Democrats were in charge (though I've been accused of being a
lib by some of my readers). It's not about how it would have never
gotten out of control had guns been readily available and the
"free-thinking intellectuals" been silenced. (though I've been accused
of being too conservative by my friends).
It's not about anyone I know, anything I've dreamed, visions,
longings, or fears or the fact that the first two books got cheers or jeers
. It's not "War and Peace" or "Of Mice and Men."
What REIGN of the DEAD is, is a pretty good story meant to entertain
those who like fast, fun reads. It is my passion. It is a story with
good characters and a tight story.
I've been asked how many of these I can do. The answer is... I don't
have an answer. I do know that there is room for at least one more
after "OUTBREAK," should I be in the mood to continue the story. With
each page finished in "OUTBREAK" I see more of that story take shape
in my mind as well. |

REIGN of the DEAD COMICS |
Where
have they gone? Limbo my friends. No, they've not been shot in
the head and thrown on the burn pile.
The Comic series is on hold because I had a couple offers get thrown
my way. I am not sure if they will continue. They need better
distribution and a new publisher. Hopefully I will have more info on
this soon . |
